The final moments of the GTA 6 trailer show us a big and bright logo along with the text that reads, “Coming 2025.” While it’s very generous of Rockstar Games to offer us a GTA 6 release date window, it doesn’t make it any easier for us to guess when we’ll get to (re)visit Vice City.
A 2025 release window is indeed quite nice to have, but it could either mean the game is coming in February or November of that year. It is, however, possible to analyse Rockstar’s release patterns and use the leaked info and rumors to narrow the release date down to something more exciting than what the studio has given so far.
GTA 6 release date based on Rockstar’s release patterns
Nothing better than Rockstar’s release trends to guide us on what and when to expect

Rockstar Games used to drop a major project about once every two years during the days of Red Dead Redemption and GTA: San Andreas, but that’s no longer the case. And given the time fluctuations between games like Red Dead Redemption (2010), Grand Theft Auto 5 (2013), and Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018), it’s safe to say that it no longer maintains a steady pace or follows a specific pattern to launch its games.
It has launched a lot of those games in October, with the only exceptions being Grand Theft Auto 4 (April) and Red Dead Redemption (May). This means there’s a good chance Rockstart could target a fall 2025 release for GTA 6. It could be the month of October, to be specific, but it could even be earlier in September.
GTA 6 release date estimate based on Take-Two Interactive’s targets
Valuable info from a Take-Two Interactive investor call

In an investor call, Take Two Interactive’s chief finance officer Lainie Goldstein stated that they’re expecting a significant inflection point for their business in fiscal 2025. “We are positioning our business for a significant inflection point in fiscal 2025 that will culminate in us delivering new record levels of operating performance next year and beyond,” they said.
The company said that “active development for the next entry” is “well underway” and that it will enter its “next phase of growth in fiscal 2025.” Considering there appears to be no other big games planned to release in 2025, it seems highly likely that they are referrig to GTA 6. If that’s true then the game will show up at retail some time in Q1 2025.
Final thoughts
No leaks suggesting a release date at the moment
There’s no way to tell when Rockstar Games plans to let us play GTA 6, as there are no leaks and rumors from reliable sources to speculate on that further. Based on the estimate and our predictions so far, it’s safe to the expect the game will either launch sometime in Q1 2025 or late in Fall of next year. And that is only if Rockstar Games manages to deliver on top without any delays or stability issues in the game.
