Apex Legends season 21 Upheaval update brings a slew of interesting changes to the game, including a new character named Alter. While we didn’t get a new map this season as Respawn appears to be saving the ‘District’ map for season 22 update, there is an updated version of the Broken Moon map to check out this season.
The updated Broken Moon map has a completely new look to it, and it even brings a couple of new POIs for better gameplay experience. That, of course, isn’t the only playable map in season 21, and there are a couple of others you can drop into.
Apex Legends season 21 map rotation for pubs: Trios and Duos
In addition to the updated new Broken Moon map, there are two other maps in rotation for public matches. Here’s the updated list of maps in rotation for Trios and Duos in Apex Legends season 21:
- Broken Moon
- King’s Canyon
- World’s Edge
Respawn hasn’t made any changes to World’s Edge and King’s Canyon, meaning you’ll be playing the same version of King’s Canyon and World’s Edge from season 19 and season 20, respectively. The updated Broken Moon, however, feels like an entirely new map with multiple new POIs like Quarantine Zone, Space Port, and more.
Solos will be taking over Duos from May 7, 2024 to June 24, 2024, meaning the map rotation pool for that remains the same as that of Duos this season.
Apex Legends season 21 map rotation for Ranked Leagues
The Apex Legends season 21 maps in rotation for Ranked Leagues are exactly the same as the ones for public matches. That being said, the maps will rotate less frequently in Ranked Leagues compared to pubs, meaning you’ll have each map in rotation for 24 hours as opposed to just 1.5 hours. Here, take a look at maps rotation for Ranked Leagues in Apex Legends season 21:
- Broken Moon
- King’s Canyon
- World’s Edge
Apex Legends season 21 map rotation for Mixtape
Apex Legends season 21 update sees the return of ‘Lockdown’ as a standard Mixtape mode. This mode, in case you’re wondering, features 12 players divided in teams of 4, for a fun and action-packed gameplay. Your objective is to earn points as a squad by capturing and holding ‘Capture Zones’ uncontested, or by eliminating other squad members. The first team to 500 points wins.
Here’s a quick look at the Mixtape maps in rotation in Apex Legends season 21:
- Control
- Maps: Production Yard, Thunderdome
- Gun Run
- Maps: The Core, Wattson’s Pylon
- Lockdown
- Maps: Monument, Zeus Station
- TDM
- Maps: Skulltown, Zeus Station
The aforementioned list highlights the default map rotation for Mixtape in Apex Legends season 21, but Respawn will change the rotation by adding or removing maps from the Mixtape pool. Below is a list of Mixtape, LTM, and TDM rotations that Respawn has planned for the rest of this season.

We need more playable maps in the pool next season
The current selection of playable maps in Apex Legends season 21 is bound to keep things fresh for players, but I believe it’s time to introduce a new map to the game to further switch things up. In fact, I strongly feel like Respawn should keep more than three maps in rotation at any given point, at least in regular public matches. I say that because the current map rotation feels too restrictive, and it’s not particularly fun or welcoming for those who prefer playing, say, Olympus or Storm Point maps.
