Rockstar Games has officially confirmed that GTA 6 is set in Leonida, a fictional state that’s inspired by Florida. That’s right, we may not have a GTA 6 map at the time of writing this, but we do know that the state of Leonida will be home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and its outskirts, and other counties.
GTA 6 counties
GTA 6 is said to have more explorable regions than its predecessor
Grand Theft Auto 5, in case you don’t know, featured two different counties — Los Santos County, which had the Los Angeles-inspired city, and Blaine County, which encompassed a large desert and some other areas. If you thought that was big, then wait till you are dropped into the GTA 6 map, which seems to have at least three different counties.
Rockstar hasn’t revealed any of these counties officially, but you can spot them fairly easily in the GTA 6 trailer if you look closely. The first one is Vice Dale County, which can be seen on the Sheriff’s badge in the background of the news report clip in the trailer about the Florida Joker. Then there’s Leonard County, which can be seen on a police car in one of the fictional social media clips in the trailer. Lastly, there’s Kelly County, which can be spotted on road signs.
Very little is known about these counties in GTA 6 at the moment, though. It also remains to be seen if these would be the only counties in the game, or whether we’ll get more. I hope to learn more about it soon as we get to see more locations, but I won’t be surprised to see at least another county which we’ll most likely get to know only when we drop into the drop.
GTA 6 map locations and settings
Landmark locations expected in Vice City

The GTA 6 maps is set to be about 2x the size of the GTA 5 map, which means you can expect to see plenty of incredible landmarks and iconic locations covering the landscape. The modern-day version of Vice City is expected to bring many landmarks from the Miami area the same way the city of Los Angeles was represented in GTA 5.
The GTA 6 trailer has already shown us plenty of landmarks. From a tennis court, football stadium, and a large amphitheater to an airport and even a functional tram, we’ve already seen everything. I am also expecting to see a swampy area like Florida’s Everglades in GTA 6, where we’ could potentially see we’ll get a taste of the GTA 6 wildlife including alligators, boars, and dogs, among other things.
There’s no way to tell the exact locations that we’ll eventually see in the game once it — hopefully — launches next year. Let’s look at a list of GTA 6 locations and some notable landmarks that are confirmed by the trailer so far in the meantime.
- VCI Airport: This was confirmed by the same sign as Kelly County.
- Vice beaches: The trailer was full of visuals from beaches and ports.
- Port VC/Keys: Another location/landmark spotted on one of the highway signs. Port VC that’s inspired by real Port Miami is imminent.
- Vice-Dale County: Somewhat of a mysterious county that I expect to fully lose myself in.
- Kelly County: For those who want to explore a pleasant country-side setting.
- Catalan Boulevard: Another mysterious location spotted on a highway exit sign.
Final thoughts
It’s easy to look at all leaked locations and “possible GTA 6 map” pieces coming out of subreddits and GTA forums and get overwhelmed, but it’s important to understand that there’s very little in the name of official information out there. I am going to filter those out and only add confirmed locations along with the ones I feel strongly about to this list.
I’ll update this space with more location and GTA 6 map information overtime, but the only thing that’s set in stone at the moment is that game takes place in the state of Leonida and that it includes Vice City as one of the main locations.
