We haven’t heard much from Rockstar Games since the official GTA 6 trailer debut last year in December, but that hasn’t stopped the community members from churning out rumors and speculations. The latest one has the fans thinking the game could hit the market in the first half of 2025.
This speculation is a result of a new job listing posted by Rockstar Games in which the studio is seeking a Russian localization tester. The company wants this position to be filled at its Lincoln branch, and it’ll come with a fixed 12-month contract.
Why exactly is this listing fueling the speculation, you ask? Well, that’s because the localization work is traditionally done near the later stages of a game’s development. And the fact that it’s only a 12-month contracted position suggests that the localization work will likely finish by March or April next year, leading fans to believe that GTA 6 could come out in H1 2025.
Why this job listing could mean nothing for GTA 6 release window
It’s true that a game’s localization work is typically done near the later stages of the game development, but it’s far from the last thing on devs’ agenda. I would’ve been more excited about this listing had it been for the role of QA tester instead, as bug fixing and QA testing usually revolves around a game’s pre-launch period.
If anything I’d give them another six months or so before GTA 6 goes gold and gets ready to ship, meaning you should expect the game to arrive some time in Q3 2025. It’ll be interesting to see if Rockstar manages to set a GTA 6 release date in September or October, just like it has for most of the mainline GTA games.
Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 6, in case you are wondering, still doesn’t have a release date. In fact, we haven’t even seen GTA 6 trailer 2 yet, so there’s still plenty to look forward to.
