What to expect from Kaiju No. 8 Episode 1?
You will find spoilers for the first two chapters of the Kaiju No. 8 manga below. So, proceed only if you’re sure or have read the source material.
Although Production I.G hasn’t confirmed the length of the first episode, we can expect it to be a 30-minute premiere. With that in mind, we can make a calculated guess as to how many chapters of the manga episode 1 will adapt.

The first episode of Kaiju No. 8 will likely adapt the first two chapters of the manga.
For the uninitiated, Kaiju No. 8 tells the story of Kafka Hibino who aspires to join the Japan Defence Force to fight Godzilla-like monsters called Kaiju to protect the citizens. However, after failed attempts to clear the Defence Force exams, Kafka takes up the job of cleaning Kaiju remains.
Kafka is seen unsatisfied with his sweeping job and disheartened that he’s unable to keep his promise to join his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro, on the Defence Force fighting Kaiju.
Later, in episode 1, we see Kafka meet a young recruit named Reno Ichikawa, who is also keen on joining the Defense Force. This will reignite Kafka’s passion to reattempt and join the force. However, after a turn of events and a sudden Kaiju attack, Kafka and Ichikawa find themselves in the hospital.
It is in this moment that a parasite-type Kaiju appears in front of Kafka and forces its way into his mouth, turning him into a humanoid monster that will later be named Kaiju No. 8. I mean, anyone would lose their mind if they see themselves turn into a monster. But, Kafka being the protagonist, is gonna be different, right? He sure will be, and you might see him in battle as Kaiju No. 8 in episode 1 itself.
