Remember the single letter ‘O’ and ‘M’ teasers shared by Aniplex earlier this week? The cat is out of the bag today, as Aniplex has revealed that everyone’s beloved Monogatari anime is making a return. The new anime series will adapt the Off season and Monster season light novels, justifying the ‘O’ and ‘M’ teasers.
When will the new Monogatari anime series start streaming, you ask? An exact date has not been revealed, but the official website reveals that it will be produced in 2024. Also, the news of the announcement is accompanied by a key visual and a trailer video.
What should you expect from the anime? As revealed, the story will pick up right after the protagonist Koyomi Araragi’s high school graduation and focus on the heroines, the ones he saves from a variety of supernatural phenomena.
Furthermore, we have learned about the production studio and staff members involved in the production of the Off and Monster season of Monogatari. SHAFT Studios is again the one producing this anime series. Midori Yoshizawa will be the lead director, accompanied by Akiyuki Shinbou as the general director.
As pointed out by Crunchyroll News, this is Yoshizawa’s first time directing a full-fledged series, and that’s great news. She is also joined by Akio Watanabe, who is returning as the character designer. They also made the key visual you see attached below. And finally, we have the collection named Fuyashi Tou, credited as the script writer.

The Monogatari series is a Japanese light novel series written by Nisio Isin and illustrated by Vofan. It was published by Kodansha magazine back in 2005, with a manga adaptation as Bakamonogatari from 2018 to 2023.
