SHIFT UP’s PlayStation 5 exclusive Stellar Blade has opened to rave reviews from critics who’ve talked a lot about the game and praised it for being more than just a fan service. That being said, there’s no denying that Stellar Blade has some really hot outfits for Eve. The outfits quickly became the talk of the town, and people started discussing how Eve is showing a little too much skin in some of them.
Well, if you were one of those who were offended by — or cringed at — the revealing outfits in Stellar Blade, then you got some good news. Sony has censored some outfits in Stellar Blade, which it thought were a bit too hot to handle. That’s right, at least two outfits — there’s probably more — have been censored with the latest patch that was sent to those who have a copy of the game.
Players around the globe were to quick to take note of the changes that were made to the ‘Holiday Rabbit’ outfit. It’s arguably one of the best outfits I’ve seen for a character in game, but Sony decided it was a bit too much for some people and took a very “woke” decision to censor it. Here’s a screenshot showing the Holiday Rabbit skin before the patch in which you can clearly see Eve showing off a plunging, cleavage-heavy neckline on the front.
And below is a screenshot showing the same skin after the patch:
The patched skin, as you can see, also adds more clothing near her waistline to hide more of her skin. Eve still looks just as good in the updated skin as she did earlier, but there’s no denying that the updated outfit takes a lot away from the original one.
The Holiday Rabbit isn’t the only outfit that’s been “nerfed,” so to speak, and they even changed “Mountain Peony,” which now shows Eve wearing a pair of leggings instead of showing the bare skin. It’s being said that they even reduced the gore in the game, meaning Sony appears to have toned down more than just the outfits.
Frustrated fans of the game asked the game director Kim regarding his stance on this and whether they plan to roll back to the original version of the outfits. He responded by saying the final costumes that they wanted to show the world are indeed the ones that are now available in version 1.0.0.2 of the game. That’s honestly hard to believe considering how the entire promotional material, and the even the launch version of the game had different uncensored outfits.
Eitherway, this goes to show that we can’t have nice things, certainly not when there’s a big corporation playing the “woke” game to please the puritanical masses. It’s like Sony is trying to make this game more appealing to those who are least bothered about the game and will probably never even touch it. In the end, it’s just a bummer for fans who were truly excited about Stellar Blade and all of Eve’s outfits.
Not all is lost as the folks who bought the disk version of the game can still refuse to update it and play the older version with original outfits. But you won’t be able to enjoy the post-launch content that’s planned for the game, though, so keep that in mind.
