When I saw Stellar Blade’s visuals and learnt that its devs paid “special attention” to Eve’s backside, I thought this game would be taxing and have a massive download size on the PS5. Turns out that’s not really the case, and the game will only require around 35GB download on the PS5.
According to the game’s Japanese retail box, the images of which surfaced on the interwebs over the weekend, you’ll need “more than 35GB” of free storage space to install. While that doesn’t give us a specific number, it’s safe to say that it will be somewhere around that figure. Your guess is as good as mine in this particular case, but I would say it’ll be somewhere around the 40GB mark.
Stellar Blade download size doesn’t seem bad compared to what’s out there

Software install sizes have gotten bulkier, so I am lowkey excited about the small file size here for Stellar Blade. I say that because we live in a world with games that make you download hundreds of GBs worth of files. Just to put things into perspective, Horizon Forbidden West demands a 99GB download, while there are games like Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, too, which requires over 300GB of storage space.
A small file size like this for a AAA PS5-exclusive game obviously has fans divided. Some feel the devs have nailed the file compression while others are speculating the game to deliver an incredibly short experience. Only time will tell which one’s true, but I am just excited to see the game taking its final form and is close to being shipped.
Stellar Blade, in case you are wondering, is set in a post-apocalyptic world, and it is said to feature beautiful environments and pretty characters. You can also expect to see some nudity and violence when the games comes out on April 26, but that’s not really a surprise when you look at its developer Shift Up’s prior works like Goddess of Victory: Nikke. If this sounds like a game you’d love to play, then you can pre-load Stellar Blade on April 24.
