Legendary filmmaker and Studio Ghibli co-founder Hayao Miyazaki came out of retirement after 10 years to make another animated film, and the movie bagged him his second Oscar award after Spirited Away (2001) earlier this week. Yes, I am talking about The Boy and the Heron, which secured an Oscar award for the best animated film. Now, if you are someone who wants to watch this Gibhli movie from the comfort of your home, I come bearing good news.
Studio Ghibli aka GKIDS has extended its exclusive streaming partnership for the U.S. with Max. In the official blog post, Max announced that the Oscar-winning animated film, The Boy and the Heron, will also be available exclusively on their platform.
Max did not share an exact date for the availability of The Boy and the Hero for streaming but added that an announcement for the same will be “made later this year.” We will bring you the latest update once Max announces more details, so stay tuned.
