The Finals was praised for its unique gameplay and mechanics at launch, but the game quickly became stale due to the lack of content. The game started losing its playerbase, but the second season trailer is here with some amazing news. The Finals Season 2 has dropped, and it’s packed with new content. I’m talking a new map, new game mode, new weapons and gadgets, and much more.
The Finals Season 2 Release Date
The Finals game arena has been infiltrated by a rogue hacking collective CNS, and they have brought some unapproved gadgets. The showrunners, though in panic and working to “decipher their cryptic messages,” do not want the fun to stop. So, the show will go on, and The Finals Season 2 will be released on March 14, 2024, on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S later this week. Yes, we are only three days away from the new season launch.
New Map & Weapons

First, joining the existing map pool is a “voxelized new map” named SYS$HORIZON. The map features blocky terrain, voxel bridges, and new glitchy terrain that will give players a lot more opportunities to maneuver and use their abilities.
You will find random floating and glitchy blocks, the usual ziplines, and the usual modes you play in a 3v3v3 setting. The map is accompanied by new weapons for each of the three classes. They include the 93R burst-fire machine pistol for light, the FAMAS burst assault rifle for medium, and the KS-23 slug shotgun for heavy.
Four New Gadgets

Next up, thanks to the hacker group CNS, one of the most exciting additions to the game is the new gadgets. They introduce a new hacker-minded playstyle, allowing the players to manipulate their surroundings or items around them at will. The new gadgets added in The Finals Season 2 are:
- Dematerializer (Medium) – This gadget removes the pain of carrying C4s as you can “temporarily erase physical surfaces, like walls, ceilings, or goo” to peek through and surprise enemies.
- Anti-Gravity Cube (Heavy) – The gravity mode now comes in a handy gadget. Just throw it at enemies or yourself and a cash box to secure it in the air.
- Gateway (Light) – Want the Wraith portal in The Finals? Use this gadget. You will get two charges, which when thrown lets you move between the two locations.
- Data Reshaper (Medium) – As the name reveals, this gadget lets you turn objects in your vicinity into something else. See an objective covered in mines? Turn them into plants, as shown in the trailer, with this gadget.
New 5 vs 5 Game Mode

Finally, there’s a new game mode in the mix as well. Taking inspiration from the Escort the payload mode in Overwatch, The Finals has brought a new “5 vs 5 power shift mode” that will see the players control a platform and move it across the map. The platform will move when a team has control of it, destroying anything in its path. Take control away and have the platform move in your favor.
Embark seems to be testing a much-requested feature in this game mode, i.e. the ability to switch classes between respawns. This will allow you to build new team dynamics and take out some of the frustration from being stuck with a role that does not suit the team’s playstyle. Now, you can change not only your gear but the whole class and its perks with ease.
The Finals Season 2 is also adding support for private matches in beta. This is yet another much-wanted feature from the community and also the first step to opening the doors for esports competitions. There are also enhancements to the ranked leaderboard and other QoL changes that will get in The Finals Season 2 patch notes at launch.
Right now, the content in the upcoming season seems enough to pull players back into the action, hacking their way through the new map with new weapons. Are you excited to test out the new features? What build do you usually run? Tell us in the comments.
